Spider Halloween decor, Tarantula, Black Widow, 3D paper craft

Many people find the world of insects fascinating. We have an ambivalent relationship with spiders, especially when they want to live with us. They are also associated with many superstitions and are often depicted in scary roles. Spiders are also often featured in Halloween decorations. We increase their size many times for a frightening effect. Using my vector template, you can make a giant paper model of a spider.

You can make a black widow by using black and red paper. You can make a tarantula, and you can use several colors for its hairy body. Once you have finished the three-dimensional paper sculpture, choose carefully where to place it. If you manage to attach the giant spider to the wall, everyone will jump out of their skin in fear when they see it for the first time. (Be considerate of your arachnophobic friends!)

I recommend it as
– Insect-themed party decoration. Excellent Halloween decoration. Wall decoration, hanging decoration.
– It will be very effective on the photo wall at a scary-themed party.

– Office decoration during the Halloween period.
– Halloween decoration in the classroom, especially if the children make the paper model as part of art education.

But we can let go of the scares and you can also use the 3D spider model for a science project. Of course, in a smaller size.

– Science classroom decoration.

If your child is not afraid of spiders, but rather loves them, then feel free to make a giant spider as a nursery decoration. (This may not be the most common use of my vector files.)

Using PDF file:
You will need access to a printer, paper, card, tape, double-sided tape or glue or glue gun, scissors, ruler.

Using SVG files:
Basic knowledge of Cricut software and of using SVG files with it is assumed.

Recommended paper quality: at least 180-200gsm.

How to use PDF files:
– Download & unzip the files
– Print the template
– Cut out the parts
– Fold along folding lines (Score it to make it easier to fold. Use a ruler and the tip of the scissors.)
– Glue parts together.

How to use SVG files:
– Download & unzip the files
– Preparing files with e.g. Design Space software for using Cricut (or Silhouett) machine
– Score and cut out the parts with Cricut machine
– Fold along folding lines
– Glue parts together.

NOTE: When cutting/scoring on Cricut, after importing SVG files:
The files arrive as a group with subgroups. One subgroup contains letters and numbers that can be drawn with a pen or cut. Another subgroup is Score/Fold lines, which must be assigned as Score lines in the Action menu. The third subgroup is for cut lines. (Scoring lines can be assigned as a group with a single click; it is not necessary to define each line as a separate score line.)

Double-sided tape is the fastest way for making paper crafts. A small glue gun can also be useful.
