Many people find the world of insects fascinatingly interesting. We don’t like flies because they are unpleasant to be around. If we understand how important they are to the ecosystem, we might be less angry with them. When you look closer, they are also beautiful creatures. Some of them are brightly colored. I also recommend using bluish-green, shiny paper to make my paper fly model.

• Insect-themed party decoration. But I can also imagine a team of flies as Halloween decor, if we play on the negative perception of flies. Wall decor, hanging decor.

• Just for fun
You don’t really need a “reason” anyway, for those who like to “make by hand”, it’s a great creative activity. I’m not a big fan of criticizing digital tools, but I also really believe in the need to make objects by hand, whether it’s cake decorating, sweater knitting, rag doll sewing, portrait drawing, ceramic mug making, etc. I’m happy if you choose my design for your crafting time.

Many skills can be developed with craft tasks:
Tool use, e.g., cutting with scissors, eye-hand coordination. Understanding and planning processes, organizing work processes. Sizing: scale, proportional enlargement, and reduction. Modeling, understanding structures. It can be said that craft activities greatly develop practical intelligence.

Using PDF file:
You will need access to a printer, paper, card, tape, double-sided tape or glue or glue gun, scissors, ruler.

Using SVG files:
Basic knowledge of Cricut software and of using SVG files with it is assumed.
NOTE: If cutting/scoring on a Cricut Maker, once you import the SVG files:
It will come in as a group with subgroups. The top subgroup contains letters and numbers that can be drawn by pen or cut. The 2nd sub-groups are Score/Fold lines and will need to be assigned as Score line under the Operation menu. The bottom subgroup is the cut lines. (The score lines as a group could be assigned with one click; it is not necessary to define each line as a score line independently.)

Recommended paper quality: at least 180-200gsm.

How to use PDF files:
– Download & unzip the files
– Print the template
– Cut out the parts
– Fold along folding lines (Score it to make it easier to fold. Use a ruler and the tip of the scissors.)
– Glue parts together
– To color, to decorate.

How to use SVG files:
– Download & unzip the files
– Preparing files with e.g. Design Space software for using the Cricut (or Silhouette) machine
– Score and cut out the parts with the Cricut machine
– Fold along the folding lines
– Glue parts together
– To color, to decorate.

Double-sided tape is the fastest way to make papercrafts.
A small glue gun can also be useful.
